Monica Bowen won the cup for the highest number of points at the Flower and Produce Show.  The photograph shows Monica receiving her cup from the Federation Chairman.

2015

'On 2nd June 2015, the Duchess of Cornwall hosted a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate 100 years of the WI in the United Kingdom. One member from each WI was invited to attend the event and I was lucky enough to win the ballot and represent Ockford-Godalming WI.  A coach was laid on and about 40 members from South West Surrey donned their best hats and departed for London on a windy, rainy day. It was certainly a day to remember. The organisation ran like clockwork and the tea was memorable. Several other members of the Royal Family also mingled with guests, gamely holding tightly on to their umbrellas!'

Chinthurst WI Group Fashion Show at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre on the 14th March 2020

Sadly 'Hello Lovely Boutique' had to withdraw from this event but M & Co Godalming were able to step in at the last minute.  The event was well supported by members and friends.  The wonderful Jazz Choir also gave an entertaining performance followed by an amazing full afternoon tea.   Pictured here is model Dee McNamara (right) and below, the Choir and a selection of cakes for tea

Madajazz

At our March meeting Jane Muddle gave such an interesting talk about her ethically based business selling hats and bags sourced from Madagascar. She also talked about the island bringing it vividly to life.

These colourful hand woven raffia goods were beautifully made in bright colours and using 'Fairtrade' principles.  Our members were able to treat themselves from a wide choice of sun hats and beach bags. Pictured here is Niki Hill trying the hat for size!

A cancelled holiday! So new folding bikes instead, to explore further afield or perhaps just to explore the locality.  A new hobby with new experiences for our President and Secretary!

We had our first W.I meeting this week, sitting under the Old Oak Tree!  Members came with their own camp chairs, a mug and cakes.  Later we were entertained by the duo "Kissing Frogs" (Pictured) - from Folk to Rock songs which was great fun.

Our "Poppy  Project" is begining to  take shape (see above) with the crochet and felt poppies being sewn onto a poppy background by some of our "Stitch & Chat" team.  More poppies are still needed before this project is complete, so keep making!

The finished "Poppy Fall" is displayed from the pulpit at St Peter & St Paul C of E in Godalming.  It was created by our WI members making all the individual poppies.  It was ready for Remembrance Sunday on 8th November and is now displayed in St Mark's Church, Ockford  Ridge,

Ockford-Godalming WI, with members of the Townswoman Guild laid poppy wreaths at the Godalming War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday 8th November.  The crochet poppy wreath was made by Maggie Maile.
